Last updated: August 11, 2026

BudgetHop processes only information reasonably necessary to provide travel discovery, save preferences and trips, perform flight searches, and protect its services. BudgetHop does not currently use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.

1. About BudgetHop

BudgetHop is a travel discovery and planning application that helps users explore potential trips based on budget, travel dates, departure location, preferences and transport choices.

2. Information We Process

Account identifier

BudgetHop currently uses Firebase Authentication. The app may create an anonymous Firebase account identifier so preferences and saved information can be associated with the current BudgetHop user.

The current version does not require users to provide a name, email address or telephone number to use the core application.

Travel preferences

BudgetHop may process and store travel preferences such as:

  • Preferred currency
  • Home city
  • Preferred transport mode
  • Travel interests

Saved trips

When a trip is saved, BudgetHop may store information associated with that trip. Depending on the feature used, this may include destination information, trip length, estimated costs, transport information and flight-offer information.

Flight-search information

When a user requests flight information, BudgetHop processes information needed to perform the search, which may include:

  • Departure airport
  • Destination airport
  • Departure date
  • Return date
  • Number of travellers

Technical and security information

BudgetHop and its service providers may process technical information required to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service. This can include authentication identifiers, application information, backend request information, IP addresses, security attestation information and operational logs.

3. How We Use Information

BudgetHop uses information to:

  • Provide trip recommendations
  • Remember travel preferences
  • Perform flight searches
  • Save and retrieve trips
  • Calculate and display trip budgets
  • Protect backend systems from abuse
  • Maintain service reliability
  • Investigate technical problems
  • Provide customer support

4. Third-Party Services

Google Firebase

BudgetHop currently uses Google Firebase services including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Firebase App Check.

These services support authentication, storage of preferences and saved trips, backend processing and application-security protections.

Duffel

BudgetHop uses Duffel for flight-search functionality. Information required to perform a flight search may be transmitted through BudgetHop's secure backend to Duffel.

5. Advertising and Tracking

BudgetHop does not currently provide third-party advertising within the app.

BudgetHop does not currently use information to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes.

BudgetHop does not currently sell personal information.

6. Local Device Storage

BudgetHop may store application preferences locally on a user's device using platform-provided application storage.

7. Data Retention

BudgetHop retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, meet applicable obligations or resolve operational issues.

Users can delete saved information through the app and can use the Delete My Data option in the Profile screen to request deletion of data associated with their current BudgetHop account.

8. Delete My Data

BudgetHop provides an in-app Delete My Data function.

For the current account, this deletion process is designed to remove:

  • Saved trips
  • Stored BudgetHop preferences
  • BudgetHop server-side rate-limit records associated with the account
  • The associated Firebase Authentication account

After deletion, the application may create a new anonymous account if the user continues using BudgetHop.

9. Security

BudgetHop uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect its services, including Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check, Firestore Security Rules, protected Cloud Functions, server-side API credentials and request-limiting controls.

No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

BudgetHop is a general-purpose travel planning service and is not designed to intentionally collect personal information specifically from children.

11. International Processing

BudgetHop's service providers may process information in countries different from the user's country of residence. Their processing is subject to their own privacy practices, contractual commitments and applicable law.

12. Changes to This Policy

BudgetHop may update this Privacy Policy as the application, service providers or legal requirements change.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised when the policy is materially updated.
